Meet a child, a teacher, and a team member whose lives are shaping hope in Muyaga.

Meet Nadine

Nadine Niyonsaba has served as Headmistress of New Generation Transformative School since September 2025. A wife and mother of seven, including four biological and three adopted children, she leads both her family and school community with compassion, strength, and vision.

Why she leads.

Her mission is to provide quality education that nurtures each child spiritually, academically, and socially. She believes every child carries unique potential and deserves personal attention, guidance, and encouragement. For Nadine, education is not only about passing exams, but about building character, confidence, skills, and leadership.

Raised in difficult circumstances, Nadine understands what it means to grow up without security or encouragement. Those experiences shaped her deep belief in education as a pathway to restoration and opportunity.

Her vision for students.

In a village still marked by the effects of war, where many families cannot afford school fees, the school stands as a place of hope. Nadine’s vision is to raise a new generation with strong values, critical thinking, and the courage to serve their communities.

Closing thought.

Through faithful leadership and a heart for each learner, Nadine is building more than a school. She is helping shape a generation.

Meet Don Ciella

Igiraneza Don Ciella is three years old and already full of confidence. She loves to speak, eagerly shares her thoughts, and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. At school, she is progressing well and brings joyful energy to the classroom. She has one brother and three sisters.

A new opportunity.

Ciella’s family carries the weight of a difficult history. Her mother was born during the years of war and lost her own father at a young age. Because of poverty and the lack of support for schooling, she was married while still a teenager and her education was cut short. Ciella’s father also had limited access to education and was only able to study through primary school.

Her family’s story.

When Ciella’s parents heard about New Generation Transformative School, they chose to make a sacrifice. Even with limited income, they enrolled their daughter in the hope that she would receive the education they were never able to complete themselves.

Why her story matters.

Ciella’s story is a reminder that education does not only shape one child. It can change the direction of an entire family for generations to come.

Meet Noël del Roi

I am an agricultural scientist who believes practical knowledge can strengthen families and communities. My time in Burundi gave me the opportunity to serve alongside local farmers, educators, and families in a meaningful way.

Why I serve.

For me, agriculture is about more than crops. Healthy soil can improve nutrition, increase opportunity, and create greater stability for future generations. Science matters most when it helps people flourish.

Sharing knowledge.

At the school, we spent an afternoon collecting and testing soil samples for nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, and pH. Together with farmers, translators, and community members, we discussed practical ways to improve the garden and strengthen future harvests.

Closing thought.

I believe that when communities are equipped to care for their land, seeds of hope are planted for generations to come.

Keep following the story.
