Meet Nadine Nkeshimana

Before joining the staff, Nadine chose New Generation Transformative School for her child. Today, she helps keep the school running as its secretary and accountant.

From school parent to staff member

My family chose New Generation Transformative School for our child before I became a member of the staff. We believed in what the school was trying to do for our community.

Now I work here as the secretary and accountant. Each morning, I travel about 13 kilometers to school. After years without employment, I’m grateful to use my skills, support my family, and contribute to my community.

Helping the school run each day

I manage the school’s finances and documents and prepare financial reports for Calvary Transformation Ministries. I also welcome parents and visitors and work closely with the school’s leaders, teachers, and children.

I value the chance to grow professionally and build relationships. Being a friend to the teachers and children is an important part of my work, too.

Why this school matters

Schools in Burundi face many challenges: crowded classrooms, too few learning materials, limited technology, low teacher salaries, and costs that put education out of reach for some families.

At New Generation Transformative School, we’re helping address those challenges through quality Christian education, teacher training, and smaller classes. Children begin learning English and French early. We want them to grow into confident, responsible people who take an active part in their communities.

I’m grateful to the leaders who brought this school to Muyaga, and proud of the difference it is making here.

“I believe that investing in children today is building a brighter future for Burundi tomorrow.”

Life beyond the office

Outside school, I enjoy making and selling nutritious porridge from different grains. Both children and adults enjoy it. My own favorite meal is meat and rice.

There is so much to love about Burundi: its welcoming people, green mountains, rich culture, and beautiful Lake Tanganyika.
